SANTANA BARTOLDUS
Santana, Assistant Director of The Frederick Chorale, is a keyboardist, vocalist, conductor, and board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), active in the Frederick/Baltimore/Washington, D.C., area. She holds a master’s degree in music therapy from Colorado State University and a bachelor’s degree in music from Yale University, where she studied harpsichord performance with Richard Rephann, choral conducting with Jeffrey Douma, and orchestral conducting with Shinik Hahm. She has collaborated as continuo organist and harpsichordist with the vocal ensemble Third Practice, the Frederick Camerata, and the Handel Choir of Baltimore. As a music therapist, she has specialized in working with people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, terminal illness, and grief/bereavement. Currently she serves as Director of Music Ministries at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Braddock Heights, MD. Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Ms. Bartoldus is a happy transplant to downtown Frederick, where she resides with her husband Brian and daughter Magdalena.
